In late 80’s and early 90’s there were two bands that made an impact. The Shades of Orange and Magic Broom. Both rooted in the 60’s garage scene but Magic Broom added something extra as well. Mattias Boström together with Matti and Petter Kallioinen formed the band in 1990 with wide ranging influences from psychedelic folk rock and eastern music. Topping it with peculiar Shakespearian vocal styles and intense violin by Stefan Brisland-Ferner, dubbing the style ”fairytale rock” Remember, this was some 20 years ahead of the British “freak folk” revival!
One single and many gigs all over Sweden, including a performance at the Hultsfred festival where they manage to draw a huge crowd, despite being booked in the same slot as Sator, the biggest Swedish band at the time.
Guitarist Lars Bygdén later formed The Thousand Dollar Playboys, Jens Höglin joined Garmarna and Mattias Boström became a member of Marble. This is a re-recording of one of their live favorites.
